Can you see Hidden Face in Advertisement Design ?

I once wrote a post about the hidden faces in our life, today, I am going to say something about hidden faces in ads design.
First set is from Club Med,  a French corporation of vacation resorts found in many parts of the world, usually in highly exotic locations. There slogan is “Discover New Worlds, Discover New People”. So, you can see lots of hidden, smiling faces in their ads campaign.

10 Reasons Why Firefox 4 Still Can't Beat Google Chrome

With the release of Firefox 4 Beta 1, Mozilla is preparing to once again take on Google's Chrome, Opera Software's Opera and Microsoft's Internet Explorer. The company finds itself in a good position. As the world's second-most popular browser, Firefox is poised to continue its growth and eventually supplant Internet Explorer as the top program in the space.

Of course, achieving that goal could be more difficult than ever. Google Chrome is gaining market share at a rapid rate, thanks to the browser's ability to load Web pages far more quickly than the competition. Even Internet Explorer gained a little share in June, even though Microsoft is forced to give European Windows users their choice of browsers. Simply put, the market is heating up.

But it's Chrome that may be Mozilla's biggest competition in the browser market. It's quickly gaining ground, and it arguably delivers the best experience of any browser on the market. And even though Firefox 4 is still at the beta stage, and the final release is potentially far off, one thing is clear: Chrome continues to reign supreme as the browser with the best design and performance. Let's examine why Google Chrome is still better than Firefox 4.

    1. Firefox loads too slowly

A major problem with Firefox in the past has been that it starts up too slowly compared with other browsers. Mozilla obviously realized that and did a fine job, at least in Windows 7, of making Firefox 4 load far more quickly. But it's still too slow when compared with Chrome. It's not necessarily a deal-breaker—the difference is about 1 or 2 seconds—but it's noticeable enough for some users who require zippy actions to opt for Chrome over Mozilla's product.

    2. Browsing is still slow

A browser's ability to load pages will determine which software people will use on a regular basis to surf the Web. When comparing Firefox 4 with Chrome, it quickly becomes apparent that the latter browser does a much better job of loading pages. In some cases, large, detailed pages load nearly twice as fast in Chrome than in Firefox. Mozilla's latest browser beta is admittedly much faster than its predecessor, but until Firefox does a better job of quickly loading pages, most folks will likely opt for Google's browser.

    3. A multicapable address bar is missing

One of the key components in Chrome is the ability to use its address bar both for search and for typing in a URL. In Firefox 4, the functionality is similar. Users can type a URL into the address bar and go to the desired site, or they can type in a search query and get the first site listed in Google search results. That's certainly better than nothing, but it would be nice if the address bar doubled as a true search field, rather than being flanked by a search bar. It's not necessarily an annoyance, but it's just another example of Chrome doing a slightly better job than Mozilla's latest browser.

    4. The design feels nice, but borrowed

A quick comparison between previous versions of Firefox and the new iteration of the browser shows just how far Firefox 4 has come in design. It's a much nicer browser that longtime Firefox fans will like. But further inspection reveals that it looks awfully similar to Chrome on Windows 7. Not only has Mozilla consolidated menus, as Chrome did, but Firefox has also taken on a similar skin to Chrome. It's not necessarily a bad thing, since Chrome is so well-designed, but it seems rather unfortunate that Mozilla couldn't come up with something a little more unique to challenge Google's browser with.

    5. Ease of use is gone

Firefox won a lot of converts because of its ease of use. In previous versions of the software, folks could easily access menus, find bookmarks and generally enjoy the efficiency of the application. In fact, Firefox was arguably better than Chrome in terms of usability. But all that has changed. Firefox 4 has jumbled menus that aren't broken out any longer. Chrome users will feel right at home, but those who enjoy having easy access to top-level menus will find Firefox 4 shocking at first glance. Firefox 4 just isn't as easy to use as earlier versions were. And that's unfortunate.

    6. Moving tabs is a pain

It might be a small issue, but the way tabs are moved in Firefox 4 needs to be improved before the software's final build is made public. In Chrome, moving a tab is a simple matter of dragging it from one place to another. Along the way, the other tabs shift, and it's easy to see where the tab is going. But in Firefox 4, that isn't the case. The browser's tabs don't move as a page is dragged across the bar, and the only help given to the user is a simple blue arrow that is too difficult to see in Windows 7. It's nice to be able to move tabs, but if the functionality isn't smooth, it will be frustrating to users.

    7. The design lacks intuitiveness

One of the main problems with Firefox 4 is that its new design lacks the kind of intuitive design that users are looking for. There is a prominent address bar and the search box is still to the right of it, but with different options hidden both at the upper left of the page and to the right of the search box, too much moving around and clicking is required to find the features users really want. It seems that rather than develop a design that understands what people want to do with a browser and helps them do it more efficiently, Mozilla decided to lump everything together into a couple of menus. It's unfortunate. An intuitive design is central to a browser's success or failure. And Firefox 4 doesn't have that.

    8. HTML5 is nice, but expected

The addition of HTML5 support in Firefox 4 could be the browser's most desired new feature. Users will now be able to view content in the new standard no matter where they go on the Web. But excitement over the addition of HTML5 seems rather overblown. Yes, it's nice to have the standard Apple supports, but its inclusion seems like an obvious move on the part of a company that's trying to keep up with changing Web platforms. Firefox 4 was forced to support HTML5, considering that much of the competition already accommodates it in one form or another. It's nice to have it, but let's not get too excited about it.

    9. It's simple—to a point

Throughout the process of using Firefox 4, one issue continued to pop up: The browser is far simpler than previous versions in some areas, but in others, it's far more complicated. In other words, Firefox 4 is very much a tradeoff experience. On the one hand, thanks to its prominent address bar and useful search bar, it's simple and a viable alternative to Chrome. But when trying to, say, look at a page source or just view saved bookmarks, it becomes far more complicated than it needs to be. This is a major design flaw that should be addressed in the final build.

    10. Future potential

When it comes time to compare one browser with another, future potential must be considered. Although there is a lot of upside to Mozilla's Firefox 4, and it provides a great starting point for even better versions of the application in the future, Chrome has the most potential of any browser on the market. Not only will the software play a key role in Chrome OS, but it's fast, it's well-designed and there are several things Google can do to improve the browser far beyond any other program on the market. If future potential is a component in deciding which browser is better, Chrome wins.

Reviews: Lenovo Thinkpad X220 - an excellent of Breed Ultraportable

Lenovo's Thinkpad X220 ultraportable, replacing the X201, is sure to be a hit with ThinkPad fans--as well as most everyone else. It's fast, light, has a great 12.5-inch display, and continues the company's tradition of superb input ergonomics with an innovative button-less touchpad and long-stroke keyboard. It also offers excellent battery life that you can stretch to a whopping 23 hours with a bottom-mounted battery slice. The downside? Not much really. The boxy, business-like appearance and somewhat cluttered keyboard deck might lack the sex appeal some users are looking for.

Exact pricing for the various Thinkpad X220 Lenovo 3000 v200 battery  3000 v100 battery configurations are unavailable at this time: the starting price should be $979, with additional costs for better CPUs, SSDs instead of standard hard drives, and more RAM. CPUs range from an Intel Core i3 to an i7, the unit accepts up to 8GB of system memory, and storage options start with a 160GB hard drive and end with a 160GB SSD. The aforementioned 12.5-inch, 1366 by 768 display is available in two flavors: one with and IPS panel for wider viewing angles, and one without.

Our $1299 test unit with its 2.5GHz Core i5 2520M, 4GB of DDR3 system memory, and 7200 RPM, 320GB hard drive turned in an outstanding 122 WorldBench score. Not only that, but its integrated Intel HD Graphics 3000 GPU actually managed playable frame rates in some of our lighter gaming tests: 41 frames per second at 1024 by 768 in Unreal Tournament 3 with medium detail, and 32.5 fps with high detail. 1080p movies, even the high bit-rate variety, play smoothly as you could wish. Performance for any task outside of enthusiast gaming and high-end 3D workstation applications is of no concern with the X220.

Some of the keys are a tad odd on the Thinkpad X220, such as the extra-large Esc and Delete keys above the main alpha keys. Unlike other vendor's keyboard quirks they help, not hinder your typing. As usual for Lenovo, the long-throw feel of the keyboard is nothing short of excellent. The touchpad is a button-less design--you press down on the right or left front edge to click, which makes it easier to use than standard buttons when you're using the thumb and forefinger of one hand. There are two normal buttons above the touchpad, and Lenovo's TrackPoint eraserhead pointing device is also in attendance. Mute buttons for the dual microphones and 720p Webcam join the volume rocker and ThinkVantage (toolbox) buttons at the top of the keyboard deck.

The X220's battery life is outstanding and may be enhanced with options. Our test unit with its 6-cell battery ran for a cool 7 hours and 15 minutes. You may also opt for 3-cell and 9-cell main batteries, for lesser weight or greater run times respectively, and add a bottom-mounted $179 battery slice. This adds .4 inches of thickness but nearly doubles battery Compaq pavilion dv6000 battery Gateway m505 battery  life to over 14.5 hours. For world travelers, the extra 1.6 pounds of weight and bulk will be an acceptable trade-off.

The ports and connectivity on the X220 are top-notch. There are three USB ports, one of which is powered even when the laptop isn't turned on for charging cell phones and the like. Optionally, with the i7 CPU, one may be USB 3.0. There are also an Express Card slot, SD card slot, Wi-Fi switch, VGA port, and gigabit Ethernet port. A dock is available with a multi-burner, Bluetooth is on board and the Wi-Fi is dual-band 802.11n (2.4GHz and 5GHz). Our test unit also arrived with IBM's biometric finger-swiper to facilitate security.

If there's anything you should be wary of with the X220, it's the number of "value-added" applications and unnecessary background processes. The Windows 7 Professional operating system has just about every software feature you need for a laptop, yet a quick glance at the Windows task manager revealed nearly 90 processes running and nearly 30 percent memory usage--without one user application running. One or two of the background apps are worthwhile, such as the one that shuts down the hard drive in case of a fall or the Bluetooth manager, but additional battery sony Vgp-bps2c battery meters ad Wi-Fi handlers are generally useless. A trial version of Norton Internet Security, as well as Microsoft Office 2010 Starter are bundled.

ThinkPad users won't find anything mind-blowingly different about this latest addition to the X2xx series, but the improvements are noticeable and all enhance the usability of the unit. If you're not looking for a laptop that is super-sexy or trying to get away on the cheap, the X220 is the best thing going in an ultraportable.

Reviews: Angry Birds Rio with iPhone and iPad forms

Sometimes it feels like this is Angry Birds' world, and the rest of us are just living in it.

The physics puzzle game is the 800-pound gorilla of the App Store. Whether in its original, iPad, or assorted spinoff formats, Angry Birds dominates the sales charts of Apple's mobile app outlet. You can buy Angry Birds plush toys. A movie may be in the works. For all I know, Steve Jobs is going to invite one of the birds--the chubby, particularly irritated-looking red one, I'd guess--to join Apple's board of directors.

For now, though, Angry Birds and Hp pavilion dv9700 battery Hp pavilion dv6000 battery developer Rovio Mobile are content to lend their considerable rub to promote someone else's movie. In conjunction with next month's release of the animated motion picture Rio, Rovio has rolled out a new version of its popular game--Angry Birds Rio for the iPhone and iPod touch and Angry Birds Rio HD for the iPad.

The movie tie-in necessitates some changes to the usual Angry Birds storyline, in which the foul-attitude fowls do battle with an army of snickering green pigs. Instead of using your battalion of birds to crush the pigs and their assorted fortifications, you're on a mission of mercy in Angry Birds Rio--you're smashing through cages to free the exotic bird heroes that star in Rio.

    Remove keyboard

Otherwise, gameplay in Angry Birds Rio will be familiar to anyone who's played any other game in the franchise. Your birds have different powers--some explode, some feature speed bursts, some split into three, and so on--which can come in handy when solving Angry Birds Rio's various puzzles. The cages confining your feathered friends are surrounded by various structures made out of wood, glass, and metal--some of which are easier to break through than others. You rack up points for freeing the birds while reducing those structures to rubble. Each stage you successfully clear earns a rating of one to three stars depending on how much damage you're able to inflict and how many birds it takes to do it.

As I write this, Angry Birds Rio features two episodes, containing a total of 60 levels. Four more episodes are planned throughout 2011 via updates to the app.

Angry Birds fanatics will probably enjoy this latest installment, and there's certainly plenty here to like, from the new puzzles to the jaunty tropical soundtrack. That said, I think the game loses something by not having the green pigs there to menace the Hp pavilion dv6700 battery hp pavilion dv3000 battery birds--there's something about the way they giggle and smile when I fail to clear a level in other Angry Birds iterations that makes them seem like more worthwhile antagonists than unseen bird poachers. Also, the Smugglers' Den episode in Angry Birds Rio feels a lot easier to solve than other Angry Birds puzzles, though things may get tougher the deeper I progress into the game.

For my money, if there's one version of Angry Birds that captures everything worthwhile about the franchise, it's Angry Birds Seasons HD. This iPad-optimized offering makes great use of the tablet's screen. An update earlier this month added St. Patrick's Day-themed puzzles to a game that already includes Halloween, Christmas, and Valentine's Day episodes. And there's an attention to detail--snowflakes fall in the Christmas puzzles, a hp 530 battery catchy Irish jig plays in the background for the St. Patrick's Day levels--that really gives iPad gamers their money's worth.

Angry Birds Rio in its iPhone and iPad forms is a worthy addition to the series. But Angry Birds Seasons HD remains the pinnacle of Rovio's offerings.

Macworld executive editor Philip Michaels wants those green pigs to know that this isn't over--not by a long shot.

Japan's earthquake affected the global computer chip supplies

The disaster in Japan is putting a pinch on 25% of the worldwide production of silicon wafers used to make computer chips, according to a report released Monday.

Two Japanese factories -- Shin-Etsu Chemical's Shirakawa facility and MEMC Electronic Materials' Utsunomiya plant -- have halted operations. Those two facilities alone make up a quarter of the global supply of silicon wafers used to make semiconductors, according to IHS iSuppli, a research company. Both companies supply wafers to semiconductor companies around the globe.

www.batterylaptoppower.com – Wholesaler & distributor of laptop batteries replacement for Compaq & HP laptop battery, Dell laptop battery, Acer laptop battery, Sony, IBM, Toshiba laptop battery. Our notebook batteries are made from high quality battery cells, which offer the quality and capacity as their (Original Equipment Manufacturer) counterparts. We guarantee our laptop batteries for full 1 year warranty and 30-day money back on every laptop battery.

"Because of this, the suspension of operations at these plants could have wide-ranging implications beyond the Japanese electronics industry," iSuppli noted in its report. "A 25% reduction in supply could have a major effect on worldwide semiconductor production."

Researchers also noted that Shin-Etsu's Shirakawa plant is responsible for 20% of the worldwide silicon semiconductor wafer supply. There reportedly has been significant damage to the plant's production facilities and equipment. According to iSuppli, Shin-Etsu is trying to shift production to other facilities, but it's not clear how long that will take.

Japan was rocked by a 9.0 magnitude earthquake, and a subsequent tsunami, on March 11. After the initial disaster, the country then Sony vgp-bps2c battery , Compaq nc6000 battery had to deal with a crisis with its damaged nuclear power plants, that, among other things, has caused rolling brownouts and blackouts.

Many roads are still impassible in Japan, and the country's transportation system has been staggered. If factories are operating, it's difficult to deliver supplies to them and to get finished product out to customers.
"What we're seeing now are production stoppages for various reasons," said Dan Olds, an analyst at Gabriel Consulting Group. "Some of the plants are in areas unaffected by the quakes but have stopped production due to the magnitude of the overall crisis and associated people and logistics problems."

One of the big questions is how long the shortage will last. "What we really don't know is how long a process this will be. I tend to think that we're talking in terms of weeks or maybe a few months," Olds said. "At this point, I don't think we can dub this an all-out crisis."

Olds noted that one obstacle that may keep Dell inspiron 5160 battery , dell latitude d620 battery factories from operating is the country's nuclear power plant crisis.

"Japan relied on nuclear power for about 30% of their overall capacity. With that out of the mix, gas and coal-fired generating will have to pick up the slack," he said. "We don't know if they have enough existing capacity to handle their industrial and consumer electric needs."

Robots to the rescue in earthquake Japan?

The Active Scope Camera robot is one a ground-based search and rescue robot that has been ruled out for use in search and rescue efforts following the earthquake in Japan.
As the search for survivors and grim recovery of bodies continues following the devastating one-two punch of the 9.0 magnitude earthquake and subsequent tsunami in Japan, researchers are weighing what types of robots could be most helpful.

There are ground-based robots, for example, designed to climb up and down piles of rubble and slither into otherwise inaccessible cracks to look for survivors. Other robots are designed to work underwater, looking for survivors in cars that fell off bridges and Dell vostro 1520 battery Dell vostro 1720 battery to check the integrity of infrastructure.

Robin Murphy, director of the Center for Robot-Assisted Search and Rescue (CRASAR) at Texas A&M University, in College Station, and one of the world's top experts in rescue robotics, told me today that "ground robots are not going to be much use in this disaster."

That's mostly because ground robots are designed to go places where dogs and people can't — such as into piles of rubble more than 20 feet high. Those types of piles are created when parking garages and skyscrapers collapse.

"A lot of those types of structures didn't collapse," Murphy said. "And if they were down by the tsunami, they got completely washed away."

Instead, most of the rubble piles are shallow enough for people and dogs to search, who are more manageable and work faster than current rescue robots such as the Active Scope Camera, a snakelike robot with a camera for a head that dell inspiron 6400 battery dell latitude d830 battery  can slither into tight spaces and check for survivors.

Earlier reports suggested that the robotic snake would be released in hard-hit Sendai by a team from Tohuku University led by Satoshi Tadokoro, but that idea "got ruled out very quickly," Murphy said.

The same goes for a second ground robot called Quince, which has tanklike tracks on its body and wheels that can roll over rubble and climb stairs.

Murphy's organization, however, is seeing a need for robots that can maneuver underwater and use sonar and acoustic cameras to search for survivors and check the integrity of vital infrastructure.

"And that makes sense when you think of all the Dell latitude d630 battery Dell latitude d510 battery water that's there and you’ve got ports, bridges, pipelines and other critical infrastructure underwater," she said. These underwater robots are small and attached to a tether so they can't be swept away in currents.

The Center for Robot-Assisted Search and Rescue has offered its assistance to Japan is on standby awaiting an official invitation to join the effort. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers may already be using one robot, Seabotix, which they successfully used to investigate bridge a seawall damage following the 2010 Haiti earthquake.

"What we would be doing is bringing in a different kind, with a different type of expertise to complement what they are doing," she said.

Nuclear power plant & Nuclear power works great until it doesn’t

The nuclear plant disaster in Japan has focused the spotlight on Ontario’s nuclear program in recent days, as it should.
It’s easy for nuclear regulators and operators in this country to grow complacent and start believing their own arrogant assurances that it could never happen here — that our technology is superior and our standards are higher. And if it did happen, they say, we know how to deal with it.
    The Japanese said that, too.
I remember an interview I did in late 2009 with Linda Keen, the former head of the Canadian Nuclear Regulatory Commission, who was fired by the federal Conservative government for doing her job.
During our chat, Keen expressed concern about the growing population densities around the Pickering and Darlington nuclear generation stations. Prior to her departure from the commission, she asked her staff to study the population densities and evacuation “buffer zones” around nuclear plants Compaq nc4400 battery Compaq nc4200 battery  in other G8 countries and compare them to the situation in Ontario.
As populations grow around these plants, can we be assured that in 10, 20, or 50 years we can evacuate the areas in the unlikely event of a major accident? If evacuation is necessary, what happens after that? How are people fed? When can they return home?
There’s still no indication the federal regulator ever did the kind of thorough international comparison that Keen envisioned — I was told at the time it was delayed because of “competing priorities”— yet the province continues to forge ahead with plans to refurbish or extend the lives of decades-old reactors, and build new ones.
“I still believe (evacuation planning) is one of the most unplanned things,” Keen lamented.
But don’t worry, it will never happen here. We’re better than the Japanese.
China exhibits similar hubris, and this is even more troubling. It’s true that China is aggressively embracing renewable energy, energy efficiency and even considering carbon taxes and cap-and-trade mechanisms under its recently approved five-year plan.
Already a world leader in wind development, China plans to more than triple its wind-energy capacity to 150,000 megawatts by 2020. It also plans to increase solar power capacity more than 20-fold to 20,000 megawatts over the same timeframe.
But to achieve its larger objective — to have 15 per cent of its primary energy capacity coming from non-fossil fuels by 2020 — the country will have to rely heavily on building new hydroelectric and nuclear power Panasonic VW-VBG260 Battery Panasonic VW-VBG130 Battery capacity.
By 2015 China wants to quadruple the amount of power its gets from nuclear generation, and then double that amount again by 2020. It has 13 plants in operation. It will have to switch on roughly three new reactors annually over the next nine years to reach its 2020 target.
Why is this concerning? Partly because many regions of China, like Japan, are on fault lines and are similarly vulnerable to large earthquakes. Many of the nuclear plants China has or intends to build are along the ocean coastline, because the facilities need access to ocean water for cooling the reactors. This means they’re also vulnerable to tsunamis.
Asked about this risk, an official with state-owned nuclear developer China National Nuclear Corp. was dismissive in a statement published this week in the Wall Street Journal. “There is a higher standard in China than the world’s average,” he said.
Here’s the thing: Japan also has a higher standard than the world average — likely higher than China, as well as Canada. Also, no country in the world is better tuned into the risks of operating nuclear plants in earthquake zones, or better prepared to handle emergencies, than Japan.
In fact, the World Nuclear Association has an entire section on its website devoted to the issue of earthquakes and nuclear power plants, most of it praising Japan for having some of the most “stringent” standards on the globe.
Interestingly, it points to a magnitude 7.3 earthquake in 2000 in an area of Japan where “no geological fault was known,” an event that prompted authorities there to review the industry’s seismic guidelines.
Can we say for certain that the geology in Ontario is as stable as we think?
All any country can do is attempt to anticipate and minimize the risks. Every nuclear plant has multiple layers of
Asus a32-f5 battery Asus a32-f3 battery backup systems. All are built on solid rock beds. All are designed to shut down automatically when there’s an extreme earth shake. The Japanese knew this better than anyone.
Nuclear power, at its core, is actually quite inexpensive for what you get from it.
What makes nuclear uneconomic is all the safety and security measures that are essential for minimizing the risk of catastrophic failure, whether caused by human error, outside attack or natural disaster.
Yet here we are, watching in suspense as this island country, the world’s third-largest economy, fights to prevent a full nuclear meltdown and widespread public exposure to dangerous levels of radiation.
People win lotteries. Lightning can strike the same place twice. And nuclear reactors, despite our best efforts, can fail catastrophically. It might never happen in Ontario or China, at least not in our lifetimes.
But if in the extremely unlikely event it does, are we prepared to accept the consequences? Do we understand what they truly are?

Best not to pay much mind to the supply chain hysterics that dragged Apple shares to their third worst trading low yesterday. While the March 11 catastrophe in Japan will undoubtedly have some effect on Apple's component supplies as partners--like Toshiba, which manufactures about 40 percent of the world's flash memory, and Mitsubishi Gas Chemical, which produces a resin used in iPhone and iPad circuit boards--work to get their plants back up and running, Apple is likely in a better position than most to handle any constraints that might arise.

As Piper Jaffray's Gene Munster reminds us in a research note today, the company often invests massive sums of money to secure component Lenovo 3000 v200 battery Lenovo 3000 v100 battery supplies and capacity. Indeed, it spent $3.9 billion earlier this year to do just that. This doesn't mean it won't suffer component delays that may limit supplies of some of its products. But it likely means they'll be mitigated by those long-term supply deals.

"Currently and in the past, Apple buys key components with large pre-payments that guarantee supply and pricing," Munster writes. "This strategy has proven to be an effective way for Apple to leverage its balance sheet and its position as one of the largest buyers of many of the components it uses; moreover, this strategy may prove particularly helpful if supply is limited and pricing increases. Finally, we believe Apple buys futures on important components, which will help offset near-term pricing swings. Our conclusion is that Apple is well positioned to suffer proportionally less than its competitors."

Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) Battery doesn't suffer from the memory effect at all.

Using an iPhone 4 and the Personal Hotspot feature, Bir reported, it seemed as though his iPad was able to maintain an uninterrupted GPS connection when traveling. Of course, this could be triangulating location awareness capabilities, but it doesn't seem likely that technology would be able to keep up with a moving vehicle uninterrupted.

For the time being, connecting a Wi-Fi-only iPad Compaq pavilion dv6 battery Compaq nc4200 battery  (Bir's was a first-generation iPad) to an iPhone 4's Personal Hotspot seems to add a GPS or GPS-like capability.

Pacific Crest analyst Andy Hargreaves took a similar view in a note of his own. "Supply-chain investments, cash balance, and tier-1 status should help Apple retain access to key components," he said today. "Apple will be adversely affected if damage to facilities and rolling blackouts impair supply of key components for an extended time. However, we believe Apple's investments in the supply chain, its status as a tier-1 vendor, and its ability to pay in cash will help it retain preferential access to components in the near term."

Top tips to reset a DeWalt power tools battery

battery power news post by batterylaptoppower.com
DeWalt has a selection of woodworking tools and power tools that contain a rechargeable nickel-cadmium battery pack so you don’t have to deal with electrical extension cords and trying to locate a electrical outlet. DeWalt battery packs are quick to charge and long-lasting, and contain a microchip that shuts the battery pack off if it overheats. Once the battery pack shuts off, you have to reset it. The reset process clears the microchip’s memory and gives the chip the “all clear” to charge normally.

    Acer as07b41 Battery Charging Tips

Taking care of your laptop battery can have a big effect on prolonging its life. Replacement batteries generally cost $40 to $50 or more in 2010, depending on the brand, so it's worth the extra effort to make yours last as long as possible. You should consult your owner's manual for specific information about your laptop, but there are steps you can take that will help to keep most laptop batteries properly charged.

    Exercise Your Battery

If you keep your battery fully charged and never use it, this will actually decrease its life span, according to Laptop Battery. Unplug your laptop so the battery is in use at least once a month, but if you have a Li-ion (lithium-ion) battery (as do most laptops made after 2000) do not ever let it completely discharge.

    Do Not Overwork Your Battery

While your battery should be used, don't overdo it. The more external hardware you have plugged in, the more CDs and DVDs you use, and the more programs you have running in the background, the harder your battery has to work. Keeping your screen at its brightest will also drain acer as07b41 Battery Acer aspire 5520 battery power.

    Perform Regular Battery Maintenance

Defragging your hard drive makes it more efficient, draining your battery less. You should also clean the battery's metal contacts every two to three months and clean out the laptop's air vents to keep the machine cool. Check your power settings and make sure they're optimized for power saving when the battery is in use.

Hot Ener1- Lithium Ion Batteries: will should Buy, Sell or Hold?

battery power news post by batterylaptoppower.com
Lithium Ion Batteries are hot right now.  This is reflected in the huge fourth-quarter and full-year results of Ener1 (NYSE: HEV). Ener1 is a lithium ion battery designer, developer and manufacturer in the United States.  Founded in 1985, it operates in three segments: battery, fuel cell and nanotechnology.

The battery segment offers lithium-ion batteries for hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles, as well as for buses, trucks and other alternative transportation vehicles. This segment also provides battery cells and battery packs. The fuel cell Symbol 21-65587-02 battery Symbol MC9090 battery  segment develops and markets fuel cells and fuel cell systems. The nanotechnology segment engages in developing nanotechnology related manufacturing processes and materials. The company offers its products to customers in the transportation, stationary power, military and small cell markets.

There is no question that lithium ion technology holds tremendous promise for the future.  They have many advantageous over traditional batteries namely weight (they are much lighter), no memory effect and a very slow discharge rate.  These beneficial features make lithium ion batteries perfect for electronic equipments and electric vehicles.

The company is extremely enthusiastic about 2011, stating the need for its products is urgent.  This truly appears to be an honest, non hyperbole assessment of the market and Ener1′s role in it.
Let’s take a closer look at the technical picture.  The stock has been downtrending into the earnings announcement where price rocketed higher to the 200-day moving average at $3.67 per share.  A bullish 50/200 day crossover is about to occur on the daily chart.  Savvy traders will watch the $3.70 level for break outs triggering technical long entries.

HP Reviews : We May Install WebOS onto Every HP PC.

Power Tools Battery  post by batterylaptoppower.com

Chief executive officer of Hewlett Packard said that the company’s plan is to be able to install its webOS operating system that the company got with the acquisition of Palm onto all HP-branded personal computers next year.

Speaking at a press conference in India, Leo Apotheker, the head of HP, said that Starting next year, every one of the PCs shipped by HP  HP pavilion dv2000 battery Hp hstnn-db42 battery will include the ability to run WebOS in addition to Microsoft Corp.’s Windows, reportsBloomberg Businessweek . The company believes that webOS will provide better user experience in many cases than the industry-standard Windows. However, in order to achieve that the firm needs more developers to design a wide range of software applications for webOS.

At present webOS lags behind Apple iOS and Google Android. There are 350 thousand apps for the iOS and 250 thousand apps for Android. Meanwhile, there are only 6 thousand for webOS at present.
“Their Achilles’ heel is software,” said Brian Marshall, an analyst at Gleacher & Co. Hewlett-Packard gets 70% of sales from computers Hp 6735b battery Hp 2230s battery , storage, networking and printers, 27% from providing information-technology services, and 2.2% from software.

The success or failure of HP’s webOS will show whether a hardware company can create a successful operating system that will be able to compete against Google Android or Microsoft Windows. The outcome will also show whether end-users truly need a proprietary operating system on a large amount of devices from HP .

Batteries Reviews – How To Take Care of Your Notebook Battery

battery care tips post by goodlaptopbattery.co.uk
Previous generation laptops or notebooks used Nickel-Cadmium (Ni-Cad) batteries which were not only energy inefficient but were also hazardous to the environment. Next, Nickel-Metal-Hydride (NiMH) batteries were used to power laptops, which offered better energy efficiency than Ni-Cad batteries. However today, most notebooks are powered with Lithium ion batteries which are the most energy efficient of all.
Goodlaptopbattery.co.uk is a place to find the best rechargeable lithium ion laptop batteries, replacement laptop ac adapters and high quality chargers.

These laptop batteries have low discharge rates which results in longer life. However, the exact notebook battery lifespan is dependent upon the applications you run on your notebook while it is powered on battery. Let us find out what is the average notebook battery life and how you can improve it.
    Average Notebook Battery Life
Most manufacturers claim laptop battery life to be about 5 hours. However, this is possible only when you run it in ideal conditions. Meaning, you should run it on a blank screen saver without touching it often. Practically, it is not possible to run a laptop in such conditions. Hence you can assume the life of a notebook to be anywhere between 2 to 4 hours. Even the notebook with a long battery life can rarely offer you power beyond 4 hours. Again, a lot would depend upon the kind of applications you run upon it. Games, videos quickly suck the power from your batteries whereas simple word processing applications are very light on power consumption.
If you intend to travel for long hours, make sure your notebook battery is fully charged. Carry some additional batteries or better get yourself a notebook computer with a feature of add-on battery. Lithium ion batteries should never be discharged completely if you wish to run them for long. If you are not using a long life notebook dell inspiron 1720 battery Toshiba pa3534u-1bas battery , then you might benefit from the following tips on improving the notebook computer battery life. Implementing these tips for purchasing notebook batteries would help you in making a good buy.
How to Prolong a Notebook Battery Life

    Regular Defragmentation
Performance of hard drive greatly affects the life of your notebook’s battery. The faster the hard drive the lesser the demand for power. Hard drive speed can be improved with the help of regular defragmentation of the computer. This technique makes your hard drive fast and energy efficient.
    Reduce Brightness
Almost every notebook comes with adjustments for brightness. Some are even equipped with facilities to modify CPU requirements and adjust cooling performance. Hence, keep the brightness of the screen to bare minimum so that you can extract as much power as available. Also, instead of keeping it on standby, keep it on hibernate mode to save energy.
    Minimize Your Tasks
As far as possible, only run the programs that are important to you. Oftentimes, we keep on running certain applications in the background which are really not required. Hence, prioritize your tasks and close all the programs that can be run at other time. This way your CPU will be less stressed and hence perform more efficiently even on less power.
    Remove Peripheral Devices
All external devices, including USB devices should be removed while you are running your laptop on battery power. Do not charge your iPod or other USB devices when your notebook is battery powered.
    Increase RAM
Increasing RAM will enable your notebook to run on available memory rather than virtual memory. Since, virtual memory uses hard drive, it often results in more power consumption. However, adding RAM also results in considerable power consumption, hence it is a feasible option only when you intend to run large memory intensive programs.
    Avoid CD/DVD
As far as possible run the programs on hard drive rather than CD/DVD. CDs and DVDs suck up lot of energy from the battery even when they are inactive. Their spinning motion is responsible for the irrational power consumption.
